ELECTIVES

The elective enrichment classes are wonderful ways for children to explore their interests in a focused way. Elective classes are taught by both outside professionals as well as specialists from within the MSP community of parents and teachers. Classes begin in October and go through May. Sign-ups begin in September. Each elective is held weekly from 1:00 pm to 1:55 pm unless otherwise specified. Electives are optional and at an additional monthly cost.

 Elective Enrichment Classes

Yoga: Children are natural yogis with their amazing flexibility and big body movements. Yoga teaches children body awareness, self-regulation, breath exercises, and impulse control. In this preschool yoga class, the children will begin to tune into their breath and bodies, and learn partner poses, single poses, games, and more.

Cooking: Engaging children in food-making is a wonderful way to encourage children to try new foods! Children in the cooking enrichment class get to scoop, slice, bake, sautee, measure, and taste their creations.

Soccer:  Using creative and imaginative games, weekly sessions focus on basic soccer skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting. Soccer instructors will expose children to the fun of soccer and provide the foundation needed to get started in the sport.

Spanish Games: Children are immersed in language by playing familar games such as Candyland, Twister, Red Light/Green Light fully in Spanish! Fusing bodily movement and familiar games to new language vocabulary stimlates the mind-body connection and helps children retain what they learn in meaningul and fun ways.

STEAM: STEAM stands for Science Technology Engineering Art Mathematics. Children in this elective will explore these subjects with experiments, projects, and games. This is a kindergarten prep class with lots of hands-on learning and fun.
